VINCENT RUIJTERS (b. 1988, The Hague, the Netherlands) is an Amsterdam-based artist whose large-scale spatial installations combine poetic, conceptual and technological approaches. His work explores intimacy and belonging across cultures. His practice is informed by research into the Aesthetics of Intimacy, as well as influences from Japanese Mono-ha and relational art. Ruijters holds a PhD in Intermedia Art from the Tokyo University of the Arts. In 2025, he became a member of the Advisory Group for the National Knowledge Development Programme on the History of the Dutch East Indies/Indonesia. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at Noor Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Ars Electronica (Austria), Roppongi Art Night (Japan), Gudskul (Indonesia) and Maritime Museum of Indonesia. Curatorial projects include Mimicry of Hollows (The 5th Floor, JP) and To Defeat the Purpose: Guerilla Tactics in Latin American Art (Aoyama Meguro Gallery, JP). His practice has been supported by the Japanese Government Scholarship (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) and the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds Scholarship.
