Step behind the screen and bring your creation to life against an electrifying backdrop of soundscapes and live music.
Drawing on shadowplay traditions across Southeast Asia, the multinational collective Wayang Women breaks open a craft, traditionally reserved for men. Using creative custom puppets, they tackle popular regional ghost stories—stripping away age-old stereotypes to flip the script whilst fighting ecological change.
This workshop expands on Buro Stedelijk’s current exhibition, Names in Our Veins, where artists FX Harsono (Indonesia) and Vincent Ruijters (Netherlands) represent two generations of the Chinese-Indonesian diaspora exploring identity and memory across borders.
